Leon Tucker

Leon Tucker is Director of Communications at the Delaware Department of Labor and has served in this post since departing a similar role at Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County in 2016. Prior to the three years he spent at Habitat, Leon has worked as a staff writer at the Miami Herald, St. Petersburg Times, Boston Globe and the Tennessean Newspaper in Nashville, to name a few. At The News Journal here in Delaware, Leon helped direct news coverage ranging from crime and public safety to government and politics. During that time, Leon also served as an adjunct professor of journalism at Delaware State University. Leon would later join The News Journal’s sister paper, the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, NJ as metro editor and then Managing Editor. Leon is the former president of the Delaware Chapter of Public Relations Society of America (PRSADE) and an appointee to the New Castle County Government Diversity Commission.
