The 58th Annual Governor’s Prayer Breakfast is next Thursday, May 3rd at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover; and today is the last day you can get tickets.

Louise Cummings, the widow of State Police Corporal Stephen Ballard, who was killed in the line of duty in 2017, will be the featured speaker at next week’s Governor’s Prayer Breakfast.

Cummings will join Gov. John Carney, Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long, and other elected officials, religious leaders and members of the community for the event.

“The theme of the Prayer Breakfast is “Everyday Heroes:  Neighbors Helping Neighbors.” And so there’s a great scripture that I’m going to draw from which talks about the sheep and the goats. And I’m going to get into that a little bit and it’s really talking about what are you here on earth doing and what is your purpose? Are you here to serve yourself or are you here to serve others?”

Following the death of her husband at a Bear-area Wawa while he was investigating a suspicious vehicle, Cummings made the decision to dedicate her life to helping others succeed despite the hardships one may face.

“I’m also going to share three different messages that I’ve received from local community members about how my husband helped them," said Cummings. "And I think that will help shed light on everyday heroes and neighbors helping neighbors. And when you see someone in need are you just rushing off through your day or are you willing to stop and take time to help somebody else?”

You can purchase tickets for the Governor's Prayer Breakfast here.
