Another winter storm brings school closings in New Castle Co.

A Winter storm warning is in effect for New Castle County and winter weather advisory for Kent County, according to the National Weather Service.

 

And this second storm in less than a week is making a mess of roads in New Castle County. It’s also prompting some schools to delay opening or close.  

In New Castle County, Appoquinimink, Brandywine, Christina, Colonial, New Castle Co Vo-Tech and Red Clay school districts are all closed.

Smyrna School District has also closed.

Delaware Tech has closed its Stanton and Wilmington campuses. The University of Delaware in Newark is closing at noon.

City offices in Wilmington and Newark are closing at noon due to winter storm.

The coastal storm is expected to dump between 4-8 inches on Northern Delaware.  Around 2 inches fell overnight in most areas.

One to three inches of snow is possible in Kent County.

Sussex County is only expected to see rain from the storm

The advisory will remain in place until 3 o’clock Thursday morning.
