Big jackpots available on St. Patrick's Day weekend

Delaware Public Media

Lottery players in the First State and around the nation would love a little luck of the Irish this weekend.

MegaMillions and Powerball are offering two big pots of gold.

No one claimed the top prizes in MegaMillions or Powerball earlier this week, pushing their combined worth for this weekend drawings to $800 million.

The MegaMillions’ jackpot has cracked the top 25 all-time in the U.S., sitting at $345 million for Friday’s drawing.

$455 million dollars is for grabs in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.  That’s the 11th biggest jackpot ever in the U.S. and the largest Powerball prize since it climbed to nearly $560 million in January.

Delaware has never had a MegaMillions jackpot winner in that game’s 15-year history. The state’s last Powerball winner came in December 2016 when a winning ticket worth nearly $122 million was sold at a Selbyville gas station.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are one in 258 million.

The Powerball odds are about one in 292 million.
