Biggs Museum celebrates a quarter century with "Quarters for Kids"

The Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover and Del-One Federal Credit Union are teaming up to celebrate the museum’s 25th Anniversary.

The Biggs Museum and Del-One this week announced a partnership they’re calling “Quarters for Kids.”

“It’ll begin, kind of early March. We’re going to be putting kiosks out in all of the Del-One branches in Dover as well as the Biggs Museum. They’re going to be very interactive kiosks aimed towards kids. They’re going to be kind of a fun little game where you drop the quarter n and it bounces around and drops into the box,” said Regina Lynch, curator of education at Biggs.

Lynch says the purpose of the kiosks is to give children a better understanding of financial literacy with the importance of philanthropy.

“And it’s going to kind of help teach kids about philanthropy; you know, the concept of giving back and helping out your community. And largely, this is going to go to benefit our children’s programs which, almost all of them are free” said Lynch.

And she says Del-One is putting some of its money into celebrating the Biggs’ anniversary, investing $10,000 to fund special programs and field trips to the museum for underserved children and their families.
