Delaware Public Media

The Biggs Museum of American Art appointed a new executive director Wednesday.

Charles Guerin is a Chicago native who is armed with 25 years of experience as chief executive officer of three nationally prominent museums, including the University of Arizona Museum of Art and University of Wyoming Art Museum. His most recent post was the executive director of The Hyde Collection in Glen Falls, New York.

Guerin’s experience includes advancing art institutions, creating imaginative exhibitions and educational programming for the public. He is also a seasoned fundraising professional and his fundraising efforts have totaled over $30 million from external sources.

He holds a Master of Fine arts degree in Painting and Art History, and a Master of Arts in Painting from Northern Illinois University.

Guerin begins his role this May, succeeding Linda Danko, who retired in August last year after 11 years of service.
