Biggs Museum releases 2017 exhibition schedule

Biggs Museum of American Art

The Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover is ringing in the New Year with its 2017 exhibition schedule.

Biggs Curator Ryan Grover promises a diverse and iconic array of shows, from regional painters to internationally renowned photographers.

The first new show of 2017 will feature works from the SYNE  consortium of Delaware and Pennsylvania artists that bends traditional Delaware Valley realism. That show launches in February.

Grover said he’s most excited for an exhibition opening in the Spring of famous photographer Ansel Adams early works.

"For lovers of photography this show is incredibly lush. This is the work of the 1930s, the 1940s, very early in his career when he’s really starting to look at the National Park System as a place of inspiration," Grover said.

Other shows on the schedule include include the Award Winners XVII exhibition of Delaware Division of the Arts Fellows and a series of drawings and sculptures chronicling the work of environmental artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude.

Delaware Public Media' s arts coverage is made possible, in part, by support from theDelaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
