Delaware drivers get another break at the pump

Delaware Public Media

Gas prices for First State motorists fell for a third straight week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Delaware dropped 3 cents from $2.28 a week ago to $2.25.

Delawaregasprices.com reports there are just over a dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $2.15 or slightly less – all in New Castle County.

Delaware drivers are paying 17 cents below the national average, which has remained at $2.42 in the past week.

AAA officials say that low oil prices are due to concerns that an oversupply of oil outpacing storage capacity. Due to recent refinery issues, western states, such as California, still have the most expensive statewide averages.

While the national average is 7 cents more than it was a month ago, drivers are still are paying over a dollar less than what they were paying a year ago, at $3.50 per gallon.
