Delaware gas prices fall for second straight week

First State gas prices fall again for a second consecutive week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Delaware dropped 6 cents from $2.34 a week ago to $2.28.Delawaregasprices.com reports there are just over a dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $2.19 or slightly less – all in New Castle County.

Delaware drivers are paying 14 cents below the national average, which fell 1 cent to $2.42 in the past week. Gas prices have been retreating the past two weeks after it rising the entire month of February.

According to AAA Mid-Atlantic, abundant supplies and the strong U.S. dollar have contributed to lower crude oil prices. States in the Western U.S., such as California and Nevada, have some of the highest gas prices in the country, due to refinery issues. Otherwise, officials say drivers should find relief at the pump over the next few weeks.

Drivers nationally are still are paying over a dollar less than what they were paying a year ago, at $3.53 per gallon.
