Delaware gears up for Sunday deer hunting

Delaware Public Media

This weekend, much of the state’s public lands will open for Sunday deer hunting for the first time in decades just as muzzleloader season gets underway.

Oct. 9 will be the first of five days hunters can harvest deer on certain public lands and private property with the owner’s permission.

Other dates include:

  • Nov. 13
  • Nov. 20
  • Dec. 11
  • Jan. 15, 2017

No Delaware State Park lands will allow Sunday hunting

All current deer hunting regulations still apply – limiting activity from a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunset.

Some or all of 80 percent of state wildlife areas are included under the new rules.

You can find maps of these areas in all three counties here, or printed versions can be found in person at DNREC’s headquarters in Dover.
