Delaware sees halt to rising gas prices

Delaware Public Media

Delaware drivers finally saw some relief at the gas pump last week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average cost of a gallon of regular slipped 5 cents last week – falling from $2.39 to $2.35 over the past seven days.

And Delawaregasprices.com reports just over a half dozen stations are charging $2.24 or less – mainly in Elsmere and New Castle.

AAA says lower demand following the holidays and flat oil prices have stabilized the cost motorists are paying locally

But drivers are still paying much more than a year ago- when the average here in the First State was just $1.84.

The national average also dropped last week down from $2.37 to $2.34.
