Delaware Senate approves new sexual harassment policy

Delaware Public Media

Delaware’s State Senate passed new sexual harassment rules Tuesday.

The new policy spells out a complaint procedure for victims and describes how allegations are investigated.

Victims of sexual harassment can make informal or formal complaints to the chief of staffs of the Democrats or Republicans or the secretary of Senate. A formal complaint must be in writing and triggers an investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee.

The Senate’s policy is almost identical to rules passed by the House in January. A Senate spokesman says legal reviews of the new policy delayed its passage in that chamber.
