Delaware Tourism receives national recognition

Delaware Tourism Office

For the first time, the Delaware Tourism Office has received a coveted Adrian Award.

The Adrian Award is the largest and most prestigious global travel marketing honor.

"It is like receiving an Oscar for the movies. So, if you’re in the tourism industry and you receive an Adrian Award for any of your products or marketing materials, you’ve hit the big time," said Linda Parkowski, the former Delaware tourism director and currently the deputy director of the Delaware Division of Small Business.

The honor was for one specific piece of the state's marketing campaign.

“We received it for our recently published travel guide. And the travel guide is an all-inclusive, magazine-style, publication that gives the visitor everything that they need to know about Delaware in one nice form,” said Parkowski.

Parkowski says the travel guide was a critical piece of the state’s tourism rebranding effort, launched in 2015.

She says the guide features photography, layouts and information based directly on feedback from Delaware target tourism audiences, as part of the tourism office’s consumer-centric philosophy.

The travel guide is available at State travel plazas and welcome centers, airports, rest areas and consumer trade shows.  It is also online.
