DelDOT is suspending a major construction project on Highway 1 this Memorial Day weekend to ease traffic congestion.
All lanes will be open through a stretch of construction between Dover and Milford, according to DelDOT’s Jeff Sundstrom. But you should still expect slowdowns and reduced speed limits.
“In some cases the lane markings may have changed. People do need to be aware that the traffic configuration may be a bit different even though both lanes in the north and south are fully open,” Sundstrom said.
DelDOT will also be managing traffic congestion by altering signal light timing in some areas.

If you’re rather not get behind the wheel this weekend, but still want to visit the coast, DART’s Beach Connectionstarts running Friday. The bus service between Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach runs Friday night through Sunday, and all holidays through Labor Day.
