Elena Delle Donne and the U.S. Women’s basketball team had no trouble securing Olympic gold in Rio.

Team USA blasted Spain 101-72 to wrap up its sixth consecutive gold and extend its Olympic win streak to 49 straight games.

Delle Donne, the former Ursuline Academy and University of Delaware star, did her part to earn her first gold medal.  She posted 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and one blocked shot in 16 minutes off the bench.  She hit all three field goals she attempted and was 4 for 4 at the foul line.

Delle Donne is the first Delawarean to bring home Olympic gold from the Summer Games since Seaford’s Mike Neill struck gold with the U.S. baseball team in the 2000 Sydney Games.  She is the only the sixth ever Summer Olympics gold medalist from the First State.
