Another round of downsizing at Kraft Heinz will not affect its plant in the First State.
The company announced Wednesday it will close 7 factories nationwide and trim its workforce by 2,600 over the next 12 to 24 months, but its Dover facility is being spared.
The Dover facility – which produces a wide range of products including Jell-O Gelatin and Pudding, Crystal Light and Stove Top stuffing – employs 562 people. It’s been a mainstay in Dover, celebrating its 50th anniversary just last year.
A nearby plant in Federalsburg, Maryland – just over the Delaware-Maryland state line near Bridgeville - was not as fortunate. That plant will be shuttered, putting 89 people out of work.
Kraft and Heinz merged earlier this year, and in August announced it was cutting 25 hundred non-factory jobs.
