Dover Symphony to hold season finale

The Dover Symphony Orchestra is honoring the armed forces for its annual Pops Concert next weekend.

The symphony will conclude its 2016-2017 season with a “Spirit of America” concert at the Dover Downs Rollins Center.

President Nancy Pikulik said the concert will feature a rendition of the state song "Our Delaware."

"So we found that, revived it and we’re going to be singing along with the audience," Pikulik said.

She hopes many fire, police and EMT members will attend, as well as members of the military.

"Some people may have grown out of their uniforms if they’re retired, but come in your uniform and stand when you hear your theme."

The concert ties into several events for Dover’s 300th anniversary. The concert starts at 3:00 p.m. Sunday May 7.

Delaware Public Media' s arts coverage is made possible, in part, by support from theDelaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
