Dover native Madison Brengle made an early exit in women's singles action at Wimbledon.

The 26-year-old dropped her first round match in the year’s third Grand Slam event – losing to Japan’s Kurumi Nara in three sets.

Brengle, ranked 58th in the world, dropped the first set 6-2, won the second 7-6, but lost the final set 6-3.

Brengle started the year by reaching the third round of this year’s first Grand Slam – the Australian Open, but was a first round loser at French Open.

She is also scheduled to play doubles at Wimbledon with her partner Tatjana  Maria starting later this week.
