DSU breaks its enrollment record

Delaware Public Media

The student body hit 4,648 this fall semester—four students more than the 2014 record.

DSU spokesman Carlos Holmes adds the university’s freshman retention rate has risen to more than 70 percent.

“We’ve been doing a lot of work on our enrollment management processes. We’ve been doing a lot of work to focus on our first-year students. We’ve established a University College in which a lot of attention is paid to our first-year students through advising.”

DSU’s record enrollment includes more than 43 hundred undergraduates and 302 grad students, including 950 incoming Freshmen and just under 300 transfers.

This marks the 6th time in eight years the university surpassed its all-time enrollment record.

“We have a lot of great academic programs; we have quite a bit of diversity in those programs. So, we expect things to continue moving in an upward trajectory for Delaware State University,” said Holmes.
