DuPont and Hotel du Pont to donate significant artwork

DuPont has announced it will donate several pieces of art to regional museums and The United Way of Delaware.

Works by the Wyeth Family, Frank Schoonover, Edward Loper and other renowned artists are headed to the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, P.A, the Delaware Art Museum and the Hagley Museum in Wilmington.

The donations come from the DuPont Collection and the Hotel du Pont.

In a release, officials said approximately 400 pieces will be donated to the United Way of Delaware for sale to the public.

The Brandywine will receive three pieces, the Hagley will receive six and the Delaware Art Museum will receive 13.

Key works being donated to the museums include N.C. Wyeth’s iconic Island Funeral, his son Andrew Wyeth’s The Big Chimney and grandson Jamie Wyeth’s White House.

DuPont would not disclose the value of the donations.
