DuPont posts profit in Q4

Wilmington-based chemical giant DuPont announced Tuesday that’s turning a profit again, following a successful 4th quarter.

Net profits for the 4th quarter came in around $265 million, compared with a loss of $253 million in the same quarter last year.

Sales were down 2 percent in the fourth quarter though -coming in at $5.2 billion. Those losses were mainly due to a decline in sales in the company’s agriculture sector.

DuPont is currently preparing to merge with The Dow Chemical Company. That plan is expected to be finalized in the first half of this year.

Once complete, the new Dow-Dupont Company plans to spin off into three independent companies -- two of which will be headquartered in Delaware.
