First State drivers seeing gas prices slowly rise

Delaware Public Media

Gas prices in Delaware continue to inch upward.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average cost of a gallon of regular rose by a penny over the past seven days – from $2.21 to $2.22.It’s also up four cents over the past 3 weeks

But pockets of lower prices remain in New Castle County where Delawaregasprices.com reports a dozen stations are charging $2.09 or less

But prices remain much higher than they were a year ago when the average price for a gallon of regular stood at $1.66.

AAA says prices remained steadier than usual in February when the season uptick usually starts – thanks to stable oil price.  But AAA notes that as refinery maintenance season begins prices are likely to start rising soon.

The national average currently sits at $2.31.
