First State gas prices up again, along with demand

Delaware Public Media

Rising gas prices in the First State showed no signs of letting up last week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular jumped another eight cents over the past seven days – from $2.09 to $2.18.

And there are no longer any gas stations selling regular below two dollars per gallon. Delawaregasprices.com reports the lowest price available is $2.05 - and that’s at only three stations in New Castle County.

The good news for Delaware driver is they are still paying 40 cents below the $2.58 were paying this time last year – and the price her is 3 cents below the average price nationwide – which also rose eight cents last week to $2.21.

AAA officials say the low prices are reflected in demand, which is up over 2015 numbers.   AAA says that rise in demand is also expected to continue.  It notes in its recent survey 55 percent of Americans said they are more likely to take a road trip this year due to lower gas prices.
