Delaware Public Media

Gas prices continue to trend downward in Delaware.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular fell three cents over the past seven days – from $2.20 to  $2.17.

The eight-cent drop over the past two weeks - leaves the price 54 cents below the $2.71 Delaware drivers were paying a year ago.

According to Delawaregasprices.com –over a dozen stations around the state are offering a gallon of gas at $2.09 or less --- mostly in the New Castle County or the Dover area.

“Gasoline demand remains on track to set a new all-time high for the 2016 summer driving season,” said AAA spokesperson Jana Tidwell.  “Locally, total gasoline inventories are reportedly healthy and pump prices should remain relatively steady in the region throughout the summer.”

The national average also dropped again last week – down another three cents from $2.34 to $2.31. That’s a 7-cent decline over the past two weeks.
