For the first time in over a month, Delaware drivers did not have to dig deeper into their wallets at the gas pump.
AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in First State remained unchanged last week – holding steady at $2.60.
And that price is still a dollar less than what Delaware drivers were paying a year ago at $3.60.
Delawaregasprices.com reports there are just under a dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $2.53 or slightly less – mostly in New Castle County.
Delaware drivers are paying six cents below the national average, which rose 4 cents to $2.66 since last week. That’s the highest the national average has reached this year.
Rising crude oil prices and some refinery issues are the reason prices are trending upward – but AAA officials expect Memorial Day travelers to see the lowest gas price for the holiday in five years. They also anticipate prices will remain below $3 for the remainder of the year.
