First State sees an end to run of rising gas prices

Delaware Public Media

Delaware drivers got a break at the gas pump for the first time in a month last week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the cost of a gallon of regular dropped four cents over the past seven days – from $2.13 to $2.09.

That’s comes after a 20-cent increase over the previous month.

And the number of stations charging less than two dollars a gallon is on the rise again according to Delawaregasprices.com.  Just over a dozen stations around the state selling a gallon of regular at a $1,.99 or less – mainly in new Castle County.

The price is also 20 cents below the $2.29 Delaware drivers were paying a year ago.

Triple-A says with the summer driving season over - lower demand and the change to cheaper-to-produce winter blend gas will likely send prices  lower over the next several months

The national average also fell three cents last week – from $2.21 to $2.18.
