Former Olympian Kimmie Meissner returns to Delaware

Meissner is back in Newark for the U.S. National Figure Skating Send-Off Exhibition Friday

Olympian Kimmie Meissner will be back on the ice at the University of Delaware Friday.

The 2006 world champion figure skater trained at UD's Fred Rust Ice Arena for many years and represented the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club in competition.

 

Meissner was just the second American woman figure skater to land a triple Axel jump and was a member of the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team. She went on to win the International Skating Union’s world title later that year and was also the U.S Champion in 2007.

Meissner is back in Newark for the U.S. National Figure Skating Send-Off Exhibition.

 

Cannuscio and McManus are in their third season on the Grand Prix circuit, and their eighth season together as a team.

  Also appearing in the show will be Anastasia Cannuscio and Colin McManus, members of Team USA who train at UD along with other members of the U.S. National Team.

The pair won the 2013 Ice Challenge championship and will be traveling to Minnesota later this month for the 2016 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships where they will compete to earn a spot on the world team.
