Delaware Public Media

First State gas prices dipped slightly again over the past week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average cost of a gallon of regular fell two cents over the past seven days – from $2.22 to $2.20.

It’s the second straight week drivers locally have seen a two cent drop at the pump

And Delawaregasprices.com reports there are over a dozen stations around New Castle County are charging $2.09 or less.

But motorists locally are still paying significantly more that a year ago at this time – when the price stood at $1.90.

AAA officials say the delay in the usual seasonal rise is prices can be explained by domestic crude oil inventories sitting at record levels and the price of crude remaining below the $49 mark.

The national average currently sits at $2.28 –down a penny from last week.
