Gas prices continue to rise in Delaware

Delaware Public Media

First State gas prices climbed again in the past week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Delaware rose by two cents from $2.38 to $2.40.  It's the third straight week prices have gone up, but First State drivers are still playing over a dollar less than they were a year ago when the average stood at $3.64.

Delawaregasprices.com reports there are just over a dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $2.31 or slightly less – mostly in New Castle County.

Delaware drivers are paying one cents below the national average, which rose 6 cents to $2.45 since last week.

AA officials expect prices to drop nationwide as summer peak driving season draws near. This is barring any international conflicts or unpredictable refinery issues that might affect the cost of crude oil.  An oversupply of petroleum has helped keep prices low at the pump.
