Gas prices down again in First State

Delaware Public Media

Delaware is enjoying its sixth week of declining gas prices.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average cost for a gallon of regular in the First State trimmed eight cents off its price tag at $2.29.

It’s more than a dollar less than what drivers were paying last August at $3.36.

Over the past six weeks, gas costs have shed 38 cents for a gallon of regular on average. First State drivers continue to save more than the average American who shell out $2.48 at the pump.

Delawaregasprices.com reports the cheapest price for a gallon of regular is $2.14 in New Castle, with most of the affordable locations split between Kent and New Castle Counties.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says they project continued volatility in the global crude oil market, which they note is persistently flooded with supply.

Earlier this month, the federal transportation department estimates U.S. driving totaled 1.54 trillion miles for the first half of 2015, breaking the record of 1.5 trillion miles set in June 2007.
