Gas prices drop as Thanksgiving holiday approaches

Delaware Public Media

First State drivers hitting the road this Thanksgiving will enjoy lower gas prices as travel.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the cost of a gallon of regular dropped two cents over the past 7 days - from to $2.12 to $2.10.

That’s the second lowest price at Thanksgiving since 2008 and the same price motorists were paying this time last year.

And Delawaregasprices.com says over a dozen stations across the state are charging less than two dollars a gallon, including nearly a half dozen with prices below $1.98.

The national average ia also retreating, down four cents last week from $2.18 to $2.14.

AAA expects to see the price to move even lower as the end of the year approaches – citing a historic decline in demand through and completion of the autumn refinery maintenance season.
