Gas prices retreat slightly over Thanksgiving holiday

Delaware Public Media

Motorists in the First State got a bit of break at the gas pump as the traveled over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price for a gallon of regular Sunday was $2.43, down three cents from last week.

But that’s still seven cents higher that it was a month ago.

The highest prices in the state are in Kent County where the average stands at 2.47 a gallon – while Delawaregasprices.com reports there are 10 stations with prices at 2.29 or less.  They are mainly in Newark, Elsmere and New Castle.

And First State prices are still the lowest in the region, cheaper than Philadelphia, South Jersey and Maryland.

The national average currently stands at $2.51 – down threes cents over the past week.
