Gas prices slip slightly to start June

Delaware Public Media

First State motorists are getting a little relief at the gas pump as June gets underway.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average cost of a gallon of regular in Delaware slipped three cents over the past seven days – from $2.36 to $2.33.

And Delawaregasprices.com reports there’s about a dozen stations up and down the state charging $2.22 or less.

Prices are a bit higher than they were a year ago at this time when the average price in Delaware was $2.25.

AAA officials say as seasonal demand grows during the summer, consumers could see prices return to where they were in April, when the national average for a gallon of gas was $2.42.

The national average currently sits at $2.38 – up a penny from last week.  A year ago the national average was at $2.34.
