After weeks of decline or stability, gas prices across the First State exploded over the past seven days.
AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average cost for a gallon of regular jumped 14 cents to ring in at $2.19. Despite the sudden increase, prices are still significantly cheaper than they were a year ago at $2.83.
Nationally, the price hike wasn’t so dramatic. This week closed up three pennies ending at $2.22.
DelawareGasPrices.com reports several gas stations listing regular gas for well under the state average.
You can still get a gallon of regular in one station in Dover for $1.99. Otherwise, several stations in Kent and New Castle Counties will charge you under $2.07.
AAA Mid-Atlantic officials say they predict gas prices increasing for the first half of November as maintenance continues at refineries and a recent uptick in crude oil prices.
But they say that increase shouldn’t last long.
