Gas prices surge again over past week

Delaware Public Media

The winter surge in First State gas prices is not slowing down.  AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average cost of a gallon of regular is now at $2.39.

That’s up 9 cents over the past 7 days and 15 cents over the last two weeks.

It’s also a whopping 50 cents higher than last year at this time.

There are some places around the First State where motorists can find lower prices.  Delawaregasprices.com reports just over a dozen stations across the state are charging $2.25 or less.

Prices in Delaware are the cheapest in the region.  A gallon of regular is $2.65 in Pennsylvania, $2.41 in South Jersey and $2.40 in Maryland.

The national average stands at $2.37 – up three cents from last week.
