Gov. John Carney (D-Delaware) announced the launch of a website for the Government Efficiency and Accountability Review Board this week.
Carney signed an executive order last February establishing the Government Efficiency and Accountability Review or GEAR Board to identify opportunities for cost savings and ways to streamline delivery of state services.
Carney says GEAR will solicit ideas from state employees and Delawareans across the First State to improve the way state government does business.
Gear.delaware.gov is part of that effort - giving state residents a chance to learn more about the group’s work and a place to offer their ideas.
Carney says Delawareans expect the State to responsibly manage their money and he says he’s committed to doing just that.
“We have an obligation to spend taxpayer dollars wisely, find ways to more efficiently allocate state resources, and direct investments where they are most needed,” said Carmey in a statement. “GEAR is a long-term effort committed to those goals. This website will help us solicit ideas from state employees, and Delawareans across our state, to improve the way our state government does business.”
The GEAR Board started meeting earlier this year. It will develop recommendations on an ongoing basis for increasing efficiency and effectiveness across state government. That includes exploring ways to improve Delaware’s strategic financial planning process, and expanding use of metrics to determine how to allocate state resources.
