Gobble, Gobble: Talking turkey with T.A. Farms

With Thanksgiving is less than a week away The Green visited Wyoming, Delaware and T.A. Farms – where this is a very busy week. That’s because T.A. Farms raises and sells free -range turkeys.

WDDE contributor Pam George of the food blog Small Wonder, Big Bites and producer Karl Malgiero recently visited the farms to meet its owners –the Palmer family - and take a peek at the business of raising turkeys. (More)


Deals over dessert: More stores open on Thanksgiving Day

It used to be that Thanksgiving Day belonged to turkey and football and the day after - Black Friday - was about shopping –with stores opening early for customers looking to get a jump on holiday shopping.

But, no more. This year Black Friday is spilling over into Thanksgiving in a way it never has before, with many stores opening Thursday night to see if some will trade dessert for deals.

Banking on charity: An interview with Food Bank of Delaware President and CEO Patricia Beebe

With the holidays approaching, many people look for ways to help those less fortunate then themselves

One way is food donation. We’ve seen Pack the Paramedic, Stuff the Bus, Turkey Round-up and more - with many of those donations winding up at the Food Bank of Delaware .

Food Bank of Delaware President and CEO Patricia Beebe visited The Green studios this week to talk about Delaware’s food assistance needs and giving efforts this time of year. (More)


Reading at risk: CORE Conference explores solutions for literacy education

Helping those struggling to learn how to read is the focus of a conference at the University of Delaware this weekend.

The 2013 CORE - or Creating Opportunities for Reading Excellence - Conference is hosted by the Reading Assist Institute.

WDDE’s Tom Byrne sat down with the Reading Assist Institute’s to discuss the 24 year-old Delaware based non-profit’s work and literacy issues in general. (More)


Enlighten me: Converging Film and Faith

This week - Enlighten Me goes to the movies.

Sunday – The Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover screens God’s Amazing Grace…Is Just a Prayer Away. The movie was produced by Calvary Pictures, a subsidiary of Dover’s Calvary Baptist Church and shot in part in Dover.

WDDE’s Tom Byrne sat down with its writer and director, Dr. Warren Rhodes, to discuss the film, its award-winning debut last month and churches getting into the movie business. (More)
