Heat wave blamed for one death in Delaware

This week’s run of excessive heat in the First State is responsible for one death according to state officials.

The State Medical Examiner’s office ruled Saturday that heat exposure played a role in the accidental death of a 55 year old New Castle County man. The man was found outdoors and unresponsive Wednesday. The medical examiner found the man had an underlying medical condition and that the heat contributed to his death.

It’s the first heat-related death this year in Delaware and Delaware’s Division of Public Health says it is a reminder of the danger that excessive temperatures and humidity can have on everyone, but especially those who are medically vulnerable.
