History Matters: State Park back stories

History Matters digs into the Delaware Historical Society’s archives each month to explore connections between key people, places, and events in history and present-day news.

Some of the most picturesque spots in Delaware can be found in its state parks. But there’s more to many of Delaware State Parks than just their scenery and recreational value. Some also have very interesting histories attached to them - including three that are centered around man made mill ponds in each county; Lums Pond in New Castle, Killens Pond in Kent, and Trap Pond in Sussex.

In this month’s “History Matters”, Delaware Public Media's Ben Szmidt examines the unique back stories connected to these three state parks .
