HUD announces $1.9 million for First State homeless programs

Grant money will go to permanent supportive housing and re-housing programs.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced this week it's awarding $1.9 million in funding for five homeless housing and service programs in Delaware.  

HUD officials said the nearly $2 million in grants will be split between four organizations in New Castle County.

The money will go to permanent supportive housing and re-housing programs.

The largest award - $768,116 - is going to Connections Community, which has over 500 housing units for homeless individuals and families, including homeless veterans

The Ministry of Caring received two grants of $399,430 and $301,478 for its House of Joseph II and House of Joseph Transitional programs.

The YWCA of Delaware in Wilmington will receive $330,235.

Delaware Permanent Housing for Adults with Psychiatric Disabilities in New Castle will receive $182,446.

In March, HUD awarded $5.8 million in funding to local homeless projects in Delaware.
