Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots still growing

Lottery fever will likely be growing this week in the First State.

Both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots are now worth over $250 million.

With no winner Friday night, the Mega Millions prize is 449 million dollars for Tuesday’s drawing.  That’s the third largest Mega Millions prize ever and seventh largest lottery jackpot of all-time in the U.S.

Wednesday night’s Powerball jackpot stands at $257 million after no one won Saturday night.

The biggest lottery jackpot ever - a nearly $1.6 billion Powerball prize – was shared by three winning tickets back in January.  There was also nearly $430 million prize handed out to a single Powerball winner in New Jersey in May.

The largest Mega Millions prize was a $656 million jackpot split by three winning tickest in March 2012.

Delaware has never had a Mega Millions jackpot winner and has not had a Powerball winner since May 2013 when an anonymous ticket holder split a $50 million jackpot.

The odds of matching all 6 numbers in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing are 1 in 258.9 million.  The odds of hitting Powerball Wednesday night is 1 in 292.2 million.
