Mt. Cuba Center invites artists to explore spring

Courtesty of Mt. Cuba Center

Photographers and artists are expected to flock to the Mt. Cuba Center in Hockessin this week to capture the spring bloom.

According to Director of Public Engagement Sara Stevenson, the Spring Art-In is all about fostering collective creativity.

"(Artists) explore the gardens, appreciate the native beauty, but also meet each other and interact with each other as they are painting or photographing the gardens."

Since starting the Art-In in 2015, Stevenson said the event has steadily grown and even drawn a following with non-artists.

"You know it’s just more opportunities to meet local people. I think for the public it’s a great opportunity to see our local artists in action. So it’s actually a fun day as an observer."

The Spring Art-In is Friday May 19 at 10:00 a.m. in Hockessin. The rain date is May 26.

Delaware Public Media' s arts coverage is made possible, in part, by support from theDelaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
