Built in the 1800s, The Buena Vista Mansion in New Castle is steeped in history and tradition. One more modern custom is the mansion’s annual holiday open house.
Site Manager Desiree May said this year’s theme,“Land and Sea Christmas,” changes from room to room.
"We don’t have a salmon with a Santa hat, but we do have a couple fish on our tree. So that will be something interesting for our guests to see," May said.
May said the mansion's many rooms will be full of holiday cheer from the forest to the coast.
"(Visitors) will get a beach vibe and then they’ll walk into another room and feel like they’re in the middle of the woods," she said.
Part of the Buena Vista Conference Center, the mansion will feature kids activities and self-guided tours.
The event is part of the center’s annual open house series. It starts at 10 a.m. Saturday Dec. 10.
