Newark resident Rose Carr will compete with the USRowing Junior National team

Rose Carr, a 16 year old Newark resident, is headed to Rio de Janeiro to compete with the USRowing Junior National Team. Carr is the first girl from the Newport Rowing Club to be chosen for Junior National Team.

"We’ve all been training really hard, and I’m excited to see the outcome," said Carr.

Carr typically rows with her sister Tara, but that won’t be the case during this international competition.

"There’s something different rowing with your sister. It’s like you kind of just know each other’s every moves. It’s like you always constantly have a little bit of an edge, just cause you’re like in sync all the time," she said.

She and her teammates will compete against teams from all over the world during the competition, which starts on August 5th and runs through the 9th.
