One of the country’s top harmonica players is playing a free concert in Delaware Wednesday.

Rockin’ Jake has been honored five times by Offbeat Magazine in New Orleans as Best Blues Harmonica Player.

The musician has performed with artists like the Neville Brothers, Branford Marsalis and Junior Walker. He says these high profile gigs provide an opportunity to win over new fans but are no less challenging than playing to his own fans.

“I’ve got to win these people over and I give it 100 percent no matter what type of show it is,” he says. “Some shows have a little bit more pressure than others like playing at the Schwartz Center will have a little pressure to it because it's a theater. I just keep my head down to the grindstone and we just try to rock it out every night and give our best every night.”

The Rockin’ Jake Band's free concert at the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover is Wednesday night at 5:30.

This piece is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
