Ravens fly in new Mezzanine Gallery exhibit

“Totem,” a new exhibit from Hockessin area artist and teacher Sarah Yeoman, showcases gliding crows and ravens in watercolor.

"I’m always trying to come up with something new and interesting to paint for myself and also to share for my students," Yeoman said.

“Totem” features 24 pieces filled with dark blues and greys showing birds moving through canvas.

She said she was fascinated with trying to represent their movements.

"I just found them to be beautiful, sculptural forms and I tried to capture that with watercolor."

Yeoman works in several mediums and describes herself as a naturalist who loves to paint the the outside world around her.

The exhibit runs through Dec. 30 at the Delaware Division of the Arts Mezzanine Gallery in Wilmington.

Delaware Public Media' s arts coverage is made possible, in part, by support from theDelaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
