Riverboat Queen returns to the Christina River Sunday for Mother's Day cruises

Riverfront Development Corporation

Wilmington’s Riverboat Queen will be back on the Christina River starting this weekend.

After a successful first season a year ago, the Riverboat Queen returns this summer, offering guests the chance to cruise the scenic Christina River while enjoying food and drink.

“The Riverboat Queen is a replica of a paddlewheeler, a skipper-liner; it’s the paddle-wheel boat that goes up and down the Christina River. It goes from our dock, our public dock on the Riverfront and takes weekly Thursday night dinner cruises, sunset dinner cruises, as well as Sunday brunch and Sunday early dinner cruises as well,” said Joe Valenti - marketing manager for the Riverfront Development Corporation.

He says the Riverboat Queen’s summer schedule starts this Sunday, Mother’s Day. Sunday cruises depart at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with Thursday cruises departing at 6:30 p.m.

Valenti says cruises will also offer various music and other live entertainment.  He notes the Queen can also be booked for private charters.
