Schools still dealing with winter weather issues to start the week

Winter weather continues to cause difficulties for First State schools.

With the forecast calling for sleet and freezing rain Monday afternoon in New Castle and Kent County, Delaware State University has closed its main campus in Dover and its Wilmington and Georgetown locations. All evening classes  are canceled.

The University of Delaware also closed its main campus in Newark closed at 2pm and all afternoon and evening classes have been canceled.

And Delaware Tech closed its Wilmington and Stanton campuses at 2 pm  and canceled all classes and activities at those two sites.

Appoquinimink, Brandywine, Christina, Colonial, New Castle County Vo-Tech and Red Clay School Districts are all closing early.

Appoquinimink School District high schools and middle school will close at 11:30 am and elementary schools will follow at 12:30.

Brandywine School District high schools high schools are closing at 11 am, middle schools at 11:30 am and elementary schools at noon.

Christina is also having an early dismissal – the complete details are at the district website.

Colonial School District high schools and middle school will close at 11:30 am and elementary schools will follow at 12:30.

New Castle County Vo-Tech schools are closing at 11:30 am

And the Red Clay School District is dismissing its middle and high schools at 11 a.m. and elementary schools at 12:30 p.m

In Sussex County, Cape Henlopen, Delmar, Indian River, Laurel, Seaford and Sussex Tech School Districts are closed Monday as Sussex County continues to dig out from last week’s snowfall.  

Districts in Central Delaware – Caesar Rodney, Capital, Lake Forest and Polytech, and Smyrna School Districts – opened 2 hours late because many back roads were still a mess from last week.  Milford is closed.
