C.J. Seitz Jr. took the oath of office to join the Delaware Supreme Court in Friday in Wilmington.

Seitz takes over on the court for former Justice Henry duPont Ridgely who retired in January.

The state Senate unanimously confirmed him in March.

Seitz was a founding partner of Seitz, Ross, Aronstam & Moritz, focusing on corporate and intellectual property cases.

He also represented the State of Delaware in the U-S Supreme Court Case against New Jersey in which the First State affirmed its ownership of the Delaware River within the Twelve Mile Circle.

Seitz’s father also served on the Delaware Supreme Court for two years from 1949 to 1951.

Justice Randy Holland is the lone remaining member on the state Supreme Court from when former Chief Justice Myron T. Steele kicked off a storm of resignations in September 2013.
