Sentences handed down in Joyner-Francis case

The two girls found guilty in connection death of Howard High student Amy-Joyner Francis received their sentences Monday in Wilmington.

Judge Robert B. Coonin ordered 17-year-old Trinity Carr to spend six months at a residential treatment center for adolescent girls, then serve two years probation. Judge Coonin found Carr guilty of criminally negligent homicide and conspiracy in April for her role in last years fight in a Howard High bathroom that led to Joyner-Francis’ death.

Joyner-Fisher died of a rare congenital heart defect following the fight.

Zion Snow, who was found guilty of conspiracy, was given 18 months probation.

Both girls have also been ordered to complete 500 hours of community service focused on youth and bullying.  They are also to have no contact with each other or the Joyner-Francis families -- and are not allowed on social media.

A third girl charged with conspiracy, Chakiera Wright, was found not guilty back in April.
